What’s not to love about Branson, MO?
Okay, maybe the traffic is a little horrific at times, but a seriously fun place to be. Branson is home to such a wide variety of attractions that it is a perfect travel destination for all types of people.
Branson is nestled right in the beautiful Ozark Mountains and has three spectacular lakes (Table Rock Lake, Taneycomo Lake, and Bull Shoals Lake). The climate and location inspires a wide array of local wildlife. So there is sure to be a perfect place for you to go hunting, fishing, golfing, hiking, cave exploring, and boating. Plus new in 2010, there are going to be several places to go zip-lining right in the mountains!
Not it to all that the great outdoors has to offer? Branson is also home to over 100 live entertainment shows’ including Shoji Tabuchi, Oak Ridge Boys, SIX, Pierce Arrow, Liverpool Legends, and many more. It also offers some fantastic shopping opportunities with two outlet malls and a huge shopping area at the Branson Landing.

Branson in the Fall

I decided to write about something that I know very well and that is very dear to my heart, my home town. It is interesting living and working in a tourism town. The town basically survives off of the tourist that come through the area. But, there is so much to love about this small town. I love living here because you enjoy the same things as the guests that come through it, but all year-round.
I say small because there are under 10,000 people that actually live here. But, I do. I live here. I work here and I love it! We have more restaurants to choose from than much larger cities. We have 3 shopping “malls” plus multiple other areas with shopping. We have a theme park (Silver Dollar City). We have a huge, beautiful lake, Table Rock Lake. It is amazing living in a place that has so much to do… go carts, mini-golfing, golfing, shopping, shows, dining wineries, etc. It’s incredible.
However, something that is often missed in a town like this is the scenery. We have some of the most beautiful mountains, bluffs, and trees you will find anywhere; and this time of year it is just spectacular. The leaves changing colors across the hills, paint a picture that words can not describe. I love these hills.
Where ever you find your self this year, discover the natural beauty that is there. There is bound to be something you are over looking. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times I see the same mountains, they are still just as beautiful as the first time I saw them. Also, the fall and early winter is the busiest time of year here so it is a great time to see Branson in full swing.
Not to brag on my home town too much, but here it is. These are the things you can’t miss if you come to Branson, MO.
- Table Rock Lake- Maybe go out on the Showboat Branson Belle, Ride the Ducks, or just rent your own boat.
- Shopping- Branson Landing has some of the best places to shop and eat all in one area and the Tanger Outlet Malls is perfect for finding great deals.
- Silver Dollar City- Maybe it’s not for everyone, but it has so much to offer from craftsmen and candy-makers, to time-less shows and entertainment, and rides for the young and young at heart.
- Historic Downtown- See Branson before it was “Branson” by taking a stroll through the historic downtown area.
- Restaurants- Some of the best places to eat are: Andy Williams Moon River Grill (more upscale), Hard Luck Dinner (great for Breakfast or Light Lunch), McFarlands (good country cooking), Shorty Smalls (at Branson Landing), Cantina Laredo (best Mexican cuisine), and Texas Land and Cattle (also at Branson Landing).
- Shows- SIX (my favorite), Baldknobbers Jamboree (one of the original shows), Shepherd of the Hills, and many more.
