To all the moms of young children out there.

We all dream of a day where we can just sit back and relax without having to worry about kids, jobs, meals, laundry, and the list goes on and on. But is there really anything better than your babies? Sure we all want to be those “Super-Moms”, you know the one’s who seem to have it all together. They always have a clean house house, they always have ample groceries in the fridge, their children always look like perfect angels, and they seem to have time to spare for working out, manicures, coffee with friends…. Trust me no one is that perfect! As a mom to 2 of the most “perfect angels” a mom could have, I can tell you that if you aren’t one of those “Super-Moms”, you are not alone!

My advice?

1. Have a schedule. One that works for you and your family. When you start the week, know what nights you need a speedy dinner, know when you will be able to get groceries, and know when to throw in the towel and order pizza :-p. Trust me if they miss their steamed veggies and lean meats for one meal it won’t kill them. But seriously planning ahead saves me! I love to cook up hamburger meat, grilled chicken, and anything that I can use during the week for meals in a hurry. I know I am rambling now but one more tip on the planning ahead thing. Pre-wash your fruits and veggies that you use for snacks. Have them ready to go so you can grab them when you are running out the door or need to give the kids something to stop the whining while you are making dinner.

2. Ask for help. This sounds so simple, but in reality that Super Mom Mentality is always in the back of our mind telling us that if we can’t do it all on our own we
are inadequate. But that is NOT true!!! Throw that thought out along with that sippy cup that was buried under toys for too long and now has something really gross growing inside. It’s okay to have someone help you!

3. Have some you time. Time where you can pee alone, sit-down while you eat, and just breathe. Maybe get up early and have a quick work-out or a cup of coffee where you can let all the things of your life go for a little while. Or take a relaxing bath after you get the kids to bed. For me, this is essential and yet often put aside to do laundry or whatever else needs to be done.

“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you “Do not fear, I will help you.” Isaiah 41:14
